This course is addressed to researchers in the field of radiation physics and its application to dosimetry. PenRed is a fully parallel, modular and customizable framework for Monte Carlo simulations, based on the PENELOPE code, coded in C++. It is distributed as an open-source project available in https://github.com/PenRed/PenRed. Although PenRed is a general purpose code, several capabilities have been developed to the field of medical physics, such as the use of DICOM geometry, sources and tallies for brachytherapy or CT scanning, among others. In addition, the ability to simulate meshed geometries has recently been implemented. The main objective of this course is to provide a detailed description of the last PenRed version and show its capabilities for its use in dosimetry.
